Learn Stick Weaving and other techniques to transform your old clothes into beautiful rugs, quilts, bags or throws.

This course is free of charge and, while the Ballarat East Neighbourhood House remains operating remotely, will be delivered online via Zoom.

Tuesdays 4.00 pm - 6.00 pm

Save your old threads from landfill and do your bit to contribute to the circular use of resources while learning an easy, fun, traditional skill. Make weaving sticks for various hand weaving projects and learn how to create a stick loom for large projects.

Please bring some old clothes, preferably cotton, or bedsheets, to cut up for weaving and scissors that will cut fabric easily.

Equipment/supplies:

  • 4 x 20 cm pieces of dowel, or straight sticks with hole drilled through one end (we are looking in to getting these made and supplied to those who register)
  • sandpaper to smooth the sticks or dowel
  • ball of strong cotton yarn
    scissors
  • wool needle that will pass through the hole in the stick.
  • old clothes, preferably cotton
